The Longines EEF Series is back for the 2023 edition with Peelbergen as a selected venue for one of the seven regional qualifiers.

We are proud to see Peelbergen as the location for the Region West Longines EEF Series Regional Qualifier (RQ). The event was subjected to a change of date and will now take place from the 18th till the 21st of May during the CSIO3* show.

Longines EEF Series calendar

The first appointment on the calendar is set for the 26th of April, with all eyes on Italy, home of the 2022 winning team. After that, it won’t be long before the teams will reach the regional qualifier in Peelbergen, on the 18th of may.

During the same event, Peelbergen will host a CSI1* and CSIYH, announces managing director Ken Ruysen: “Hosting a CSI1* and CSIYH during the same weekend of the CSIO3* is an ideal setting to give CSIO riders the opportunity to develop their younger horses in the CSIYH and CSI1*, as well as giving CSI riders the chance to compete in a CSIO setting with the very best riders in the sport.”

How does it work?

The Longines EEF Series is a Nations Cup Competition held over two identical rounds, table A against the clock where teams of 4 riders compete in both rounds.

The teams progress through the regional qualifiers to the semi-final, with the best 10 teams qualifying for the Warsaw Finals on the 14th-17th of September.

Here, teams will not compete only for the titles of Longines EEF Series Champions, but for a promotional place to the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup Division 1.

Longines EEF Series Peelbergen serves as the regional qualifier for Region West,  comprising Andorra, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Great Britain, and Monaco. In addition to the West Region teams competing for qualification, the Nations Cup competition at CSIO3* Peelbergen is open to invited teams from around the world.

2023 marks the 9th edition of The Young Riders Academy, with Peelbergen as its selected venue for the third year in a row.

We feel very honoured and privileged Young Riders Academy chose our venue for their selection. After a few editions, they believe this concept suits them perfectly and we do our utmost best to create the ideal circumstances for their selections and clinics.

– Ken Ruysen, managing director of Peelbergen about the collaboration with YRA.

Young Riders Academy Selections

At the beginning of this month, twenty-five talented riders, representing fourteen nations, gathered on our show grounds for two days of selections to determine the Young Riders Academy 2023 team.

Candidates have been interviewed and assessed by the Young Riders Academy panel, “The level of the athletes was unquestionably high again, and the performances had been impressive” say panel members Thierry Pomel, Otto Becker, and Emile Hendrix.

The nominations for YRA team ’23 will be announced by the end of the month, with the first clinic taking place in Peelbergen on 17th / 19th april.

What does the future hold for YRA and Peelbergen?

The purpose of YRA is and remains to assist in training show jumping young talents and preparing their career as future professionals in this sport. Peelbergen is honoured to partner up with YRA to help in this mission and see these young riders develop into the top riders of the future.

“We see both the level of the riders and the professionalism of the YRA Family growing every year. We feel and believe that the support their program offers to the riders, really makes the difference for their future career. I have incredible appreciation and respect for the YRA and believe the best is yet to come for them.

We hope to stay the home base for their selections and clinics in the future and try to support the YRA Family in any way possible!”

We take this opportunity to thank The Young Riders Academy for their outstanding work and wish all the riders good luck.
