After the win in Mannheim just weeks ago, the Dutch Team keeps on a hot streak with a home win in yesterday Longines EEF Series Nations Cup Peelbergen.

13 nations to start, 4 starting the second round with a clean sheet, all ending in a thrilling jump-off against Canada, where Michael Greeve and his horse Denver completed their third flawless round. Canada incurred a penalty, securing the win for Dutch Chef d’Equipe Vincent Voorn’s team, marking their second consecutive EEF Nations Cup win following their success in Mannheim.

Three out of four riders did not touch a single rail across the two rounds – and the jump off. Chef d’Equipe Vincent Voorn selected Micheal Greeve and Denver to jump the decisive round against Canada. “If we didn’t have a mistake with Lars the choice would have probably been Mathijs (Van Asten) as Sirocco would have jumped only one round. After the mistake it was only fair to spare Sirocco as he jumped last and has an important appointment in Sankt Gallen in a couple weeks. Michael’s horse has a big stride and there were some long lines so it was the best choice for everyone, and it turned out great.”

A win to confirm the great shape of the team, but that does not contribute points towards the EEF Longines series semifinals in Deauville. TeamNL had already earned 100 points in Mannheim for the Central Region, which means the next points can next be earned from June 12-16 in Samorin, Slovakia. The winning 100 points were attributed to the best team of Region West, Ireland.

EEF Longines Series Nations Cup Results, Kronenberg, 1.45m:

Netherlands – 0 faults, jump-off 0 faults, 32.05 seconds

Michael Greeve – Denver (by Diarado), 0 – 0 – 0, 32.05 sec

Henk Frederiks – Impian (by Bubalu), 0 – 0

Lars Kersten – Chuck vh Marienshof (by Colestus), (4) – (4)

Mathijs van Asten – Sirocco (by Balou du Rouet), 0 – 0

Canada – 0 faults, jump-off 4 faults, 36.37 seconds

We feel very honoured and privileged Young Riders Academy chose our venue for their selection. After a few editions, they believe this concept suits them perfectly and we do our utmost best to create the ideal circumstances for their selections and clinics.

– Ken Ruysen, managing director of Peelbergen about the collaboration with YRA.

Young Riders Academy Selections

At the beginning of this month, twenty-five talented riders, representing fourteen nations, gathered on our show grounds for two days of selections to determine the Young Riders Academy 2023 team.

Candidates have been interviewed and assessed by the Young Riders Academy panel, “The level of the athletes was unquestionably high again, and the performances had been impressive” say panel members Thierry Pomel, Otto Becker, and Emile Hendrix.

The nominations for YRA team ’23 will be announced by the end of the month, with the first clinic taking place in Peelbergen on 17th / 19th april.

What does the future hold for YRA and Peelbergen?

NEW THIS INDOOR SEASON
Indoor season ’22/’23 is slowly approaching & we would like to share some exciting news with you already.
As regards our CSI shows, we will change things up a bit. We have a new program and will start jumping four days again (Thursday until Sunday) instead of three days. Next to that, all classes will take place in the biggest indoor arena (100m x 37m). We will have one entire indoor arena (75m x 33m) reserved for the warming up and a separate indoor arena (75m x 33m) for flat riding.

Since the beginning of outdoor season 2022, Peelbergen has a new sponsor for the eastern outdoor sand & grass arena: Barnbridge Auctions. The founders of Barnbridge Auctions, Janou Hendrix & Erik Jerneld, joined forces to create a platform that offers an overview with dates of all the equestrian auctions being organized. But there’s more… “We thought Barnbridge should not only give viewers an instant overview of when all the listed auctions are taking place, but we firmly believed it was also necessary to have all the individual lots on the platform. Being able to see when you can buy a horse, foal, broodmare, or embryo has much more value when you can see the details.”

Both parties are very delighted about this new partnership and are looking forward to lots of wonderful shows being hosted in the Barnbridge Auctions arena.
